Pure insanity

This is truly hard to believe, that I am figuring out how to set up my very own blog. This is a woman still firmly entrenched in the last millennium. Yes, I know how to use a computer. Sort of. But consider the fact that I don't have a Blackberry or an iPod. Truth is, I don't even have a real television that gets any channels. I have an old portable television (I'm not even sure it's a color TV) with rabbit ears. When Dick Cheney changed the television broadcasting system to all digital I had to get him to send me one of those converter boxes. The only reason I have a converter box is so I can find the news in the case of nuclear annihilation. Cheery thought, eh?

So here's the deal. I'm a writer who is rather unsuccessful making a living writing. But I'm not giving up. I'm completing a non-fiction book, tentatively titled Learning to Pray, a collection of personal essays and recipes. I've had a couple of things published in Texas Monthly and I'm waiting for acceptance/rejection on others. Everyone tells me I need to start blogging. So I'm starting. I write every day. Some days it's just a grocery list, but still it's writing. But do I have the nerve to really post what I write for all the world to see? Stay tuned.

    1. Funny, but I just realized (over 5 years have passed) that I never responded to your comment. Thank you, Todd, for your support. It means the world to me, especially coming from you--the writing teacher and the reader whose taste in writing I most revere.

    1. How did I not see this comment before? Thanks, Teets--you may be the only one who knows nearly all the family stories I know. You can't make up this stuff. Love you, little brother!
